Change is in the Air

Written by Debbie Levy, Illustrated by Alex Boersma

Carbon, Climate, Earth and Us.

There’s too much carbon in the air!

After hundreds of years, and billions of people burning fossil fuels, a blanket of too much carbon dioxide is trapping too much heat in our skies—warming oceans, melting glaciers, causing storms and floods and drought and fire. The Earth has amazing powers to remove climate-changing CO2 from the air, but these powers aren’t enough. For the Earth to help us, we must help the Earth—and people have amazing powers to do just that.

Through explorations of the awesome powers of kelp, mangroves, and soil in the carbon cycle, and the powers of people to change our behaviors, protect our ecosystems, and improve lives through science, Change Is in the Air offers an honest but also hopeful view of the problems we’re facing. With richly colored art, illustrated endpapers that extend the story, and detailed back matter, this picture book informs, illuminates, and inspires.
