Sigillaria [ORIGINAL]

900.00

In Sigillaria, the present coexists with the past. An extinct species of giant plants tower over a typical Chicago apartment complex, recalling the vast swamp forests covering the area 300 million years ago. Drawing on the Field Museum’s fossil collections, this piece imagines a meeting point between Chicago’s present landscape and the city’s past life.

Scratchboard, 11”x17”, matted in a black frame with handwritten specimen label
